Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my homepage!

what's new in 2010?

The next three months I will dedicate my time to Polish Jewish composers who had thriving careers before world war II and who either didn't survive the Holocaust or couldn't continue with their success afterwards...

Simon Laks is one of them and there will be a concert dedicated in his honor on June 13th in Warsaw, Poland.
I will sing the part of the L'Hirondelle in a concert version of his opera comique "L'Hirondelle inattendue". The concert will be broadcast on the radio and a CD production will follow!

On July 11th I will sing a concert at a festival in Marseilles, also dedicated to a Polish composer, Josef Beer, who, before the war, was a big star among operetta composers of his time!

2009 was a busy Weill year and it seems that Mr. Kurt Weill and I are a really good musical match these days!

Some of the highlights included the radio drama production of "The Three Penny Opera" (in English) - produced and broadcast by the BBC in Manchester last October. The music will be published this year by Chandos label.

In June I had the pleasure to sing the "Seven Deadly Sins" with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under HK Gruber at a beautiful festival in Harstad, Norway.

In October the French "Trio Futurum" (Sax, piano and violin) and I recorded songs by Weill (of course!) , Milhaud , Sauget and others. The arrangements were written especially for us and it was exciting to do something very unique! This CD will also be released in 2010.

Another big project just ended: I was playing "Venus" in a production of "One Touch of Venus" at the Kurt Weill Festival in Dessau in March 2010. Stage director was Klaus Seiffert and the British conductor James Holmes was the musical director.

And let me share one of my latest reviews with you: =)

>Ute Gfrerer, this allround talent, is well on her way to be one of the best Weill interpreters of the world. She enchanted her audience on a Broadway level! We are looking forward to hearing more from her soon, so -remember this name!< Dr. Peter Bilsing, for the magazine "der Opernfreund"

Take care now and please visit again!
